What they DO have (the steelman — the strongest case for them)

  • The platform question is now answered. Tesla's own careers site lists PLM roles naming the Dassault stack explicitly: a "PLM Technical Expert – 3DEXPERIENCE" posting (supporting "vehicle, energy, and robotics design engineers") and a "PLM Support Engineer – 3DEXPERIENCE" posting requiring "advanced knowledge of one or more of 3DEXPERIENCE, CATIA, ENOVIA"; third-party mirrors of Tesla postings list "CATIA 3DX, CATIA V5, ENOVIA, 3DEXPERIENCE" together. Why no full report

No public evidence of AI in Tesla's design engineering — no papers, postings or disclosures describing ML in CAD, simulation or DFM. Tesla publishes almost nothing about its engineering toolchain beyond job ads, so this is a low-visibility verdict, not a strong negative. [Evidence of absence]

What would change our mind

Job postings are the leading indicator that worked once already: a Tesla posting seeking ML engineers for CAD/simulation/manufacturing-DFM tooling (rather than Autopilot/Optimus) would be the first credible signal. [Inference]
