Meaning The unwanted bending, twisting, bowing, or distortion of a manufactured part after it is produced.

Think of… A sheet of curled cardboard — the part comes out bent or twisted when it should lie flat.

Etymology - warp = to bend or become distorted. - -age = state, condition, or result. - Literally: the condition of being warped.

DFM Meaning A part does not retain its intended CAD shape because of uneven shrinkage, cooling, residual stresses, or similar manufacturing effects.

Singular - The warpage exceeds the allowed tolerance.

Plural - Different warpages were observed for the three material options. (Less common; engineers often use "levels of warpage" instead.)

Industry Example - The bumper shows 2.3 mm of predicted warpage near the mounting boss.
