Koito¶
Koito — fails (c) (the study's selection tests: (a) real automotive presence, (b) real moulded thermoplastic-parts capability, (c) concrete, dated AI capability): its AI trace is sensing, not engineering. Koito's public technology story is lamp-integrated LiDAR and sensing (Cepton investments, Blickfeld/Quanergy collaborations, short-range LiDAR orders) — product electronics, not moulding engineering. [Evidence] 1 One caution that earns this paragraph its place: the SIAT/SAE 2026 paper on AI/ML-predicted headlamp levelling compliance (2026-26-0660, Jan 28 2026) is sometimes mentally filed under "headlamp maker = Koito" — it is actually by Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles + Altair. It is genuine automotive moulded-optics-adjacent engineering AI — just an OEM/vendor datum (see the Siemens report), not a Koito one. [Evidence] 2
