Valeo has a real, respected AI lab (valeo.ai, founded 2017) — but its stated research scope is assisted/autonomous driving: scene understanding, data-efficient learning, open-world perception, safety, explainability. Manufacturing, plastics and mechanical design are absent from the lab's agenda (checked 2026-08-01).
