What they DO have (the steelman — the strongest case for them)

  • The canonical OEM generative-design story. GM × Autodesk (May 2018): a generative-design seat-bracket — 40% lighter, 20% stronger, 150+ options — documented in this study's Autodesk report. Metal additive manufacturing (AM), and now eight years old. [Evidence] 1
  • Real moulding-simulation competence. A Moldflow-certified GM engineer presented manufacturing-process effects on structural performance (Digimat moulding-coupled workflows) in Hexagon-era Digital Materials webinars — documented in this study's Cadence report. Classical simulation, not AI, but it proves in-house moulding-simulation depth. [Evidence] 2
  • Fresh 2025 AI, aimed elsewhere. The one substantial new item the final pass found: the GM–NVIDIA collaboration (March 18, 2025) — Omniverse digital twins of assembly lines, robotics training, DRIVE AGX for next-gen vehicles, custom AI models for manufacturing optimization. Factory and vehicle-platform AI; the announcement contains nothing on product-design engineering or part simulation. [Evidence] 3

Why no full report

The verdict after the extra pass: GM's engineering-AI evidence is either old (2018, metal) or classical (Digimat webinars), and its fresh AI investment (NVIDIA, 2025) went to factories and autonomy. No 2024–26 evidence of AI in part design or moulding engineering. [Evidence of absence] 3

What would change our mind

The ingredients coexist at GM — generative-design history, Moldflow/Digimat practitioners, an NVIDIA compute relationship. A single dated disclosure joining them (e.g. ML surrogates trained on GM's own moulding simulations) would earn GM a full report — and the first OEM evidence of AI joined to moulding engineering.
